Convicted paedophile jailed
A paedophile who has for years possessed a sexual interest in young boys has finally been jailed – for 10 months.
Graham Acheson, 64, found himself back in the dock at Truro Crown Court for his third set of offending relating to indecent images of children.
Acheson, of Trevu Road in Camborne, was sentenced for two counts of possessing indecent images of children and another breach of a suspended sentence.
Prosecuting the case, Emily Cook described how Acheson received non-custodial sentences in 2011 and 2017 with accompanying rehabilitative orders to try to address his behaviour.
Despite the attempted rehabilitation, Acheson, who was a lifeguard many years ago, was found in 2018 with Category B images featuring children aged 8 to 14 and Category C images of children aged between 6 and 11, putting him in breach of a previous order.
Acheson was jailed for 10 months taking into account the breach and the latest offending.
Ex-lifeguard had child abuse images
A former lifeguard who admitted making and possessing more than 1,000 indecent child porn images has been given a three-year community order.
Graham Acheson, 55, of Castle Meadows, St Agnes, was a seasonal lifeguard on St Agnes beach between 2002 and 2006, and volunteered as a shore helper for the St Agnes lifeboat until 2007.
He was also a member of the St Agnes Surf Lifesaving Club until last year, but has no further involvement with the organisation.
He was sentenced at Truro Crown Court after pleading guilty to 19 counts of making indecent images, including 54 moving images.
The charges related to a period between February 14, 2007, and November 12 last year and the images included some in the most serious category.
He was also ordered to sign the sex offenders register for the next five years.
