A CALLINGTON student has been jailed for seven years after sexually abusing two young girls.
Human biology student Martin O’Neill, 23, had earlier pleaded guilty to ten charges of sexual abuse over a seven-year period a judge at Truro Crown Court heard.
Judge Christopher Elwen jailed O’Neill at the sentencing hearing on Friday, June 10 and ordered him to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for the rest of his life.
O’Neill was from the Callington area but had been living in student accommodation in Pennycomequick while a student at the University of Plymouth.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Rebecca Deane, of the Child Abuse Investigation Unit in Launceston, said: “I would like to pay testimony to the courage of the victims who came forward in the first place and thanks to my whole unit who helped throughout.
“I think it’s an appropriate sentence for the crimes committed.”
