“Most wanted” paedophile jailed for nine months

A PAEDOPHILE from Downton who was on the run for six years has been jailed for nine months for child porn offences.

Keith Vincent, 66, also known as James Andrew, was put on the Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) Centre’s Most Wanted website in February after disappearing in 2004.

He was arrested by officers at Salisbury Police Station on August 24 and was charged with five counts of making indecent photographs, one count of possession and three counts of failing to comply with notification requirements while on the Sex Offenders Register.

He appeared before magistrates in Salisbury the following day, and was remanded in custody until his sentencing on Thursday, when he was given an overall sentence of 40 weeks for the offences.

Vincent served a lengthy prison sentence after being convicted in 1996 of sexually assaulting two teenage girls – offences that involved violence.

He was deemed by police at the time as being in the “at very high risk” category of re-offending.

DS Kevin Rowles from the Wiltshire Police public protection department said: “Appropriate management of sex offenders is vital for the on-going protection of society.

“In Wiltshire, 97 per cent of all registered sex offenders comply with their conditions and do not abscond.

“But on rare occasions such as this, a sex offender does abscond and Wiltshire Police, working closely with CEOP and partner agencies, does everything possible in order to apprehend them – even when they are believed to have travelled abroad.”
