Jail threat for child porn man

A 53-year-old man who downloaded child porn from the internet has been told he could go to prison.

Simon Mallett, of Watts Way, Market Lavington, admitted seven charges at Salisbury Crown Court last Thursday.

They comprise one of possessing 410 indecent photographs and movies of children between September 16 2007 and April 22 last year and six charges of making indecent photographs of children.

The offences occurred in Devizes.

The prosecution case was not outlined in court and Judge Andrew Barnett agreed with a request by defence barrister Marcus Tregilgas-Davey to adjourn the case for a pre-sentence report to be prepared.

Mallett, who was dressed in a dark suit, white shirt and striped tie, was released on bail with the condition that he has no unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 18.

He will also have to sign on the Sex Offenders’ Register.

Judge Barnett told Mallett: “You have had the good sense of pleading guilty of possession and making indecent photographs of children.
