Fury after pervert delivers to nursery

CONVICTED paedophile Steven Spencer has been suspended from a supermarket in Chippenham after he was allowed to make a delivery to a nursery in Corsham.

Spencer, who is an employee at Sainsbury’s in Bath Road, was photographed dropping off food to Snapdragons Nursery in Pound Pill this week.

On Wednesday night he was suspended from his job and the company have launched an investigation into how he was allowed to come into contact with children.

The 35-year-old ex-scout leader of of Pink Lane, Charlton, near Malmesbury admitted hoarding hundreds of images of children and received a suspended sentence and put on the sex offenders’ register last July.

A spokesman for Sainsbury’s said: “Specific instructions to ensure this colleague would not be near children were not followed.

“Although he was accompanied at all times by another colleague, it is totally unacceptable.

“He is not at work while we carry out a complete investigation.”

Michele Elliot, of charity Kidscape said of the incident: “It makes my blood boil.”

A spokesman for Snapdragons said: “In terms of safety at Snapdragons we are entirely satisfied with our security arrangements in that the children are heavily supervised at all times without exception.
