Mother put on sex register

A woman from south Wales who had sex with a 13-year-old schoolboy has been ordered to register as a sex offender.

Cardiff Crown Court heard how Suzanne Evans, 24, from Newport – who claimed she loved the teenager – admitted sleeping with him twice.

She also let him use her car, even though he was too young to drive.

Evans admitted five counts of indecent assault over a three month period.

Evans, from the Maindee area of the city, had sex with the boy and performed a series of indecent acts on him, the court heard.

The mother of one gave him the keys to her car and he started staying overnight in it because he was scared of being told off by his parents for staying out late at her house.

Prosecutor Tom Crowther said: “She admitted she knew he was 13 and said they had sex twice – once in her home and once in the car.

“She claimed she loved him,” he added.

But Suzanne Thomas, defending, told the court although it was “a very serious and shocking case,” Evans “did not specifically target this boy for the purposes of sexual gratification”.

Judge Christopher Morton sentenced her to three-years community rehabilitation and ordered her to register as a sex offender for five years.

“The young boy was willing. It is hard to gauge the effect of this on him or his family but it must have been significant,” he told the court.
