Child porn council worker jailed

A former council worker who downloaded child porn from the internet has been jailed for nine months.

Peter Milam was found with images of children as young as five on computers at his home in Broome Close, Horsham, West Sussex, and that of his parents.

At Lewes Crown Court, he admitted 10 counts of making indecent images of a child and asked for 155 similar offences to be taken into account.

Milam, 37, was put on the Sex Offenders’ Register for 10 years.

Sussex police discovered the images at his parents’ home in Ridgehurst Drive, Horsham, when they executed a search warrant on 23 December 2002.

The court heard how he had viewed the material while his father was dying of cancer.

Defending, John Manning said Milam, who worked for Horsham District Council, had lost his friends, his job and his home as a result of his actions.

Milam had no previous convictions.

Jailing him, Judge Charles Kemp said Milam was perpetuating the trade in a “disgusting form of entertainment”.
