Child porn boyfriend spared jail

A man whose partner discovered his stash of child pornography has been spared a prison sentence.

Daniel Beckett, 24, had been collecting pictures of boys and girls as young as six being abused by adults.

His girlfriend found them on a computer used by her son and confronted him, Middlesex Guildhall Crown Court heard.

Beckett, of Elm Park, east London, who admitted 12 counts relating to indecent images was given a three-year community punishment and supervision order.

At first, Beckett, a travel agent, had claimed the laptop must have been remotely accessed by someone else.

Passing sentence, judge Roger Chapple told how Beckett’s relationship had fallen apart, he had lost his job and was forced to move house three times.

“The effect has been devastating for you, but if I thought a sentence of imprisonment would prevent another child from being abused I would not hesitate in passing one.”

Alongside the three-year order, Beckett was disqualified from working with children indefinitely and has to register as a sex offender for five years.
