Former oil worker jailed for trying to rape 12-year-old

A former oil worker who tried to rape a 12-year-old girl at a house in Aberdeen has been jailed for four years.

The High Court in Glasgow heard 49-year-old Thomas Donald had previously admitted attempting to rape the girl at the property in April last year.

Donald pounced on his victim at the girl’s neighbour’s house, where he had been living temporarily.

The schoolgirl later fled from the house before revealing to a friend in an online message what had occurred.

The girl later admitted to her mum that Donald had been “touching” her.

The court was told that the pervert was considered a “high risk” of re-offending.

Judge Lord Bannatyne ordered that Donald be supervised for a year upon his release and placed upon the sex offenders register for life.
