Man jailed for raping and abusing 13-year-old girl
A PREDATORY paedophile who raped a 13-year-old girl and also had sex with her in front of another child has been jailed for nine-and-a-half years.
Geoffrey David Wadley, 38, repeatedly sexually abused the teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, at his Sheerwater home between 2007 and 2009.
Wadley, who has two young daughters, began abusing the victim shortly after he had been released from prison for slitting a man’s throat with a meat cleaver.
At Guildford Crown Court last Friday (April 30), prosecutor Heather Norton explained that Wadley faced 14 counts of sexual offences against children, to which he had pleaded guilty.
He also previously admitted raping a heavily pregnant teenager during the early 1990s.
Miss Norton explained the pair’s first sexual encounter had happened while Wadley was looking after the victim at his house in Devonshire Avenue. Wadley had exposed himself to the girl and asked her to touch him.
“The victim said she did, but didn’t really know what to do,” the prosecutor said.
The court heard Wadley also touched a friend of the victim in a sexual manner, attempting to involve her in a threesome.
On another occasion, the victim was raped after taking a different friend over to Wadley’s home.
Miss Norton said: “The friend said she heard the victim say ‘No, no, no, I don’t want to have sex with you. My friend’s in the next room’.”
After raping the girl, Wadley told the victim and her friend not to say anything and threatened “you know what will happen if you do”, the court was told.
Another friend of the victim witnessed her and the defendant having oral and penetrative sex and was later sexually assaulted herself.
“The defendant and the victim joined the friend on the sofa,” said Miss Norton.
“The victim sat on the defendant’s lap kissing him when Mr Wadley put his hand on the friend’s groin.”
Shortly after this incident, during which Wadley put his hand down the girl’s friend’s trousers, she called the police and Wadley was arrested on January 31 last year.
In a statement read out in court, the victim, now 17, said: “He took away my childhood and I can never get that back.”
Sentencing Wadley, Judge Peter Moss told him that he had “debauched” and “corrupted” an innocent girl, who was suffering emotional difficulties.
Wadley was sentenced to nine-and-a-half years for raping and sexually abusing children. He will serve at least half of his sentence before being released on a four-year licensing condition.
PC Paula Hayward said: “This sentence has resulted in a devious, insidious offender being taken off the streets of Woking where he had become a predatory paedophile.
“It has been an extremely difficult time for his victims waiting for the conclusion of this case and it is to their credit that they found the strength and willpower to report this dangerous individual.”
