THE victims of a Greenford youth worker who indecently assaulted children have been praised for their courage in coming forward to police.
Detective Constable Hannah Rose paid tribute to the victims of Howard Zin Green for trusting the police and making sure he was convicted.
She said: “I hope this case encourages other victims of assault to speak to police, they can be assured that we will treat them with empathy and conduct a thorough investigation into their allegations.”
Green, 47, of Queens Avenue, was sentenced to 11 years in prison yesterday, after pleading guilty to rape and multiple charges of indecent assault.
He was arrested in October 2006 after a 14-year-old girl reported him to police for two assaults.
An subsequent investigation unearthed ten victims of Green, aged between four and 16-years-old, relating to incidents which happened between 1979 and 1994 when he was volunteering for youth groups and at a church school.
He was sentenced at Wood Green Crown Court, and will spend at least five and a half years behind bars.
He will be on the Sex Offenders Register for life.
