Schoolgirl victim speaks as brothers jailed

TWO brothers have been jailed for raping two young girls.

Patrick McKie, 36, (pictured above) and Andrew McKie, 31, have been sentenced to a total of nine years for raping the girls, who were then aged eight and 10.

The brothers, who both have learning difficulties, raped different victims at different times and were caught by the police after one young girl told a school friend.

Patrick McKie pleaded guilty to one count of rape and five counts of sexual activity with a child and Andrew McKie admitted one count of rape.

Yesterday, one of their victims, now 15 years old, said their condition was no excuse for what they did.

The victim, who cannot be named, said: “I don’t feel safe anymore.

“Having learning difficulties is no excuse for what he did to me.

“I don’t think the sentence he received was enough, but nothing can be enough for what he put me through.”

The girl has explained that she is still coming to terms with what has happened.

She said: “I can’t get close to anyone anymore, not even members of my family.

“I am coping better now he has been jailed, but it is still very difficult.

“I can’t concentrate at school. It has affected every part of my life.”

Patrick had invited his 10-year-old victim to his flat to watch football and, once inside, he locked her in and got her drunk on strong lager.

He then raped her and filmed her on his mobile phone.

His barrister Patrick Palmer said: “He has many difficulties.

“Nobody ever taught him to read and write.

“He was bullied at school as a child and has lived an insular life on his own.

“He accepts what he has done is wrong.”

Andrew raped an eight- year-old girl when he was a schoolboy.

His barrister Chris Dunn said: “At the time, this defendant was only 14.

“He was particularly vulnerable.”

Both brothers, of Boulevard, west Hull, have been ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life.

They have no previous convictions.
