Sex offender had thousands of indecent images of children

A BUSINESSMAN has been jailed again after indecent images of children were found on his computer for the third time.

Richard Blakeley, 46, of William Royd Lane, Heckmondwike, had more than 7,000 pictures on his works computer.

He told police he subscribed to adult gay porn websites and sometimes pictures of naked children were downloaded by mistake.

Leeds Crown Court was told that the images were found when police raided his business, BJR Framing in Bradford Road, Birstall. Two computers were seized from his home but nothing more was found.

Judge Paul Hoffman jailed Blakeley for a year after hearing it was the third time he had been caught with indecent pictures of youngsters. A total of 7,048 pictures were found after the police raid in January 2006. Most were at the lowest levels of seriousness.

The court was told that Blakeley had two previous convictions.

In December 1999 he was jailed for 16 weeks by Batley and Dewsbury magistrates after admitting possessing six indecent images of children.

Then in March 2005 at the same court he was fined 220 and made the subject of a sexual offences prevention order banning him from viewing pictures of children.

This time Blakeley admitted 15 charges of possessing indecent images and one charge of breaching the sexual offences prevention order. He will be on the sex offenders register for life.

Jailing him Judge Hoffman said Blakeley had shown a blatant disregard for the law.
