A Malvern teenager who raped a 12-year-old girl and made her pregnant has been spared jail.
Steven Ford, aged 18, of Oak Crescent, pleaded guilty at Worcester Crown Court and was given a supervision order for three years. He was also told to sign the sex offenders’ register for the next five years.
Ford claimed that the pair had sex by consent and he thought she was aged 15.
His victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, said she had discussed her age with him.
The girl, now 13, gave birth earlier this year to a baby girl.
She had sex with Ford last summer and a photograph of her while she was pregnant was shown to the judge at the start of the trial in September.
The court heard from the beginning how a psychological report showed Ford had borderline intelligence and a personality disorder.
Tim Sapwell, defending, said: “His level of understanding is markedly different from other young men. He is unable to follow what has gone on in court.”
