MICHAEL Pearce has been jailed for sending porn featuring young girls to paedophiles over the internet.
The 62-year-old grandad, of Parton Road, Churchdown, was tracked down by his mobile phone number when police in Devon and Cornwall were investigating a known paedophile, Gloucester Crown Court was told.
As a result of his offences Pearce, a grandfather, has now been disowned by his partner and his entire family, the court heard.
Pearce pleaded guilty to one offence of making indecent images, three of possessing them and seven of distributing them.
Jailing him for 16 months, Judge William Hart said his offending had taken place over a two year period from 2009 until earlier this year.
The judge said: “You have denied any sexual interest in children even though all the evidence points to the contrary. That denial is a worrying feature.”
Judge Hart said there had to be a longer sentence than for people who possess child porn because Pearce had been distributing it.
He also made a sexual offences prevention order against Pearce and ordered him to sign the sex offenders register for 10 years.
Mary Harley, prosecuting, said a total of 461 images were found on Pearce’s computer and phone, of girls aged between four and adolescene, when police raided his home on April 28.
He had also posed as a 12-year-old girl called Ocean while in chatrooms with other paedophiles.
Paul Trotman, defending, said: “There has been devastation in his life as a result of his offending.”
