Jail term for pensioner who raped a schoolgirl

A PENSIONER who repeatedly raped a schoolgirl has been jailed for 11 years and three months.

Retired miner Arthur Lancashire made videos of the sexual activity and threatened to reveal them if she stopped.

Derby Crown Court heard how Lancashire, now 71, started taking innocent pictures of the girl when she was with a friend, suggesting they could become models.

But later the victim was photographed naked after being given alcohol.

Clive Stockwell, prosecuting, said eventually Lancashire made a video of them having sexual intercourse.

He said the girl said she had sex with Lancashire three or four times a week.

The offences began when she was 14 and went on for two years.

Lancashire, of Langwith Road, Bolsover, admitted rape and making indecent images. The offences ended about four years ago.

Judge John Burgess put Lancashire on the sex offenders’ register for life and told him: “You suborned her will and used those videos as a way of blackmailing her.”

David Webster, in mitigation, said Lancashire’s pleas of guilty had saved the girl having to give evidence, including facing a “disturbing and distressing cross-examination”.
