Abertillery sex offender behind bars for three years
AN ABERTILLERY man was locked up for three years after admitting to three counts of sexual activity with a child.
Benjamin Tucker, 20, of High Street, pleaded guilty to the charges at an earlier hearing.
Prosecutor Gareth James said the girl, who is under 16, had fallen pregnant as a result and that it had been confirmed Tucker was the father.
The matter was brought to the police and the defendant was arrested.
In police interview on January 31 this year, he admitted to the police that he had sex with the girl on three occasions and that he knew she was under age.
The court heard that in November 2010 Tucker was cautioned by police for sexual activity with a child which involved a different girl.
Simon Goodman, for Tucker, said: “He acknowledges the way he dealt with this when he was living on his own and lonely was inappropriate.”
Sentencing Tucker, Judge David Morris said: “The law stands as it does to protect young girls fromolder males.
“You did what you did knowing perfectly well it was wrong and ignoring warnings.”
Tucker was sent to a young offenders’ institution. He was also ordered to register as a sexual offender indefinitely on his release.
