Man kissed and cuddled teenage girls after grooming
A MAN kissed and cuddled two teenage girls after sexually grooming them through Facebook and sending one of them naked pictures of himself, Grimsby Crown Court heard.
Colin Griffiths, 22, of Sorrel Road, Grimsby, admitted two offences of meeting teen girls after sexual grooming, one of them between September and November 2009 and the other between March 7 and 19 last year. Rachael Harrison, prosecuting, said a 13-year-old girl posted a Facebook message saying: “Wow. So happy. Got a boyfriend.”
Her mother was worried and challenged her. The girl had received eight text messages from Griffiths of a sexual nature. They met on a dating website and later arranged to meet.
The other girl, 15 at the time, received a Facebook message from Griffiths saying: “Hiya, doll. How are you?” He sent four naked photographs of himself and told her he loved her. They met up and kissed and cuddled.
“Both girls had contact with him entirely consensually,” said Miss Harrison.
Jonathan Spicer, mitigating, said Griffiths admitted that his chat with the second girl was more sexual than with the first but his actions went no further than that and he did not coerce them in to any further sexual activity.
The girls suggested meeting up and he “enthusiastically accepted” but it went no further than kisses and cuddles.
Griffiths, who is working, was given a three-year supervision order, including a sex offender treatment programme. He was given a five-year sexual offences prevention order and was told to register as a sex offender for five years.
