Barnstaple man made indecent images of a child

A BARNSTAPLE man has admitted making an indecent photo of a child and possessing video clips of a young teenager committing a lewd act.

Guy Dolman, 41, of Prospect Place, pleaded guilty to both offences when he appeared before Barnstaple magistrates.

The court heard how Dolman’s computer was seized in December last year after a search warrant on his home.

When interviewed by police, Dolman immediately admitted what he had done. He said he often used file sharing websites and he “might have downloaded child abuse images then”. He said he had not been deliberately searching for the images.

Solicitors described the images as being in category two, which is at the “lower end of the spectrum” for child indecency; category five is the highest.

Presiding magistrate Roy Rees handed Dolman a 16-month community order with supervision. He also placed Dolman on the sex offenders’ register for five years and ordered him to pay £70 costs.
