Paedophile has appeal rejected
A PAEDOPHILE who abused a young girl 20 years ago has had an appeal to cut his jail term rejected.
William Bradshaw, 49, was jailed for nine-and-a-half years earlier this year at Nottingham Crown Court after pleading guilty to ten indecent assaults on a female under 16 and indecency with a child.
Rejecting the appeal Mr Justice Maddison said the girl’s life had been blighted by some of the abuse she was subjected to, which “affected almost every area of her life.”
Bradshaw’s lawyers argued at the Court of Appeal in London that the sentence was “manifestly excessive” but this was rejected.
Mr Justice Maddison added: “Given the very large number of offences with which the judge was dealing, and given the numerous aggravating features, we take the view that the sentence that was finally passed, that of nine-and-a-half years, cannot possibly be described as manifestly excessive.”
Bradshaw, whose last address was in Cinderhill Walk, Bulwell, had been given three months in youth custody in May 1979 when he indecently assaulted a 12-year-old girl.
