Wrexham pervert jailed for nine years for assault on girl, 5

A MAN who committed a serious sex assault on a little girl was jailed for nine years yesterday.

Jason David Jones, 25, was placed on the sex offender’s register for life.

Jones, of no fixed address but who comes from the Wrexham area, was also made the subject of a life-time Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) under which he must not have unsupervised contact with children.

Mold Crown Court heard Jones was described as presenting an unacceptable risk to others, particularly children.

Judge Niclas Parry told him: “You will understand that you have admitted an extremely serious offence.”

He had then warned the girl not to tell anyone what he had done.

Judge Parry said: “It will be many years, if ever, before the extent to the psychological harm you caused will become apparent.”

He had been assessed as a high risk of harm to children but a medium risk of re-offending.

The court heard Jones was arrested after the little girl told members of her family what the defendant had done.

Interviewed, he said that he didn’t know why he did it.
