Jail for webcam sex offence with ‘girl, 11’

PERVERT David Pochwyt has been jailed for a year after he performed a sex act on a webcam believing it was being viewed by an 11-year-old girl.

The 45-year-old, of Leacroft Road, Meir, was arrested after the Metropolitan Police conducted a covert operation on people communicating with children in chat rooms.

The officers claimed to be an 11-year-old girl called Rosie and Pochwyt contacted her via the internet on numerous occasions.

Prosecutor David Bennett told Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court yesterday Pochwyt asked Rosie to provide him with ‘sexy’ photographs and he offered to expose himself to her and asked her if she would like to engage in sex over the webcam.

The defendant did not at any stage suggest he and the girl should meet.

“He continually pestered her for sexy photos and to talk dirty to him and told her to keep it a secret,” said Mr Bennett.

Police arrested Pochwyt in June 2008 and he denied the offences. But when interviewed again in December 2008 he admitted using the internet to communicate with the girl and performing a sex act over the webcam.

Pochwyt pleaded guilty to three offences under the Sexual Offences Act on October 22, 2007, October 29, 2007 and January 2, 2008.

Robin Lichfield, mitigating, said: “There was no physical contact between them. He accepts he was foolish in doing what he did and wants to put matters behind him. He made a terrible mistake. He has learnt the error of his ways.”

But Judge Robert Trevor-Jones jailed Pochwyt for 12 months and made a 10 year sexual offences prevention order, preventing the defendant from accessing the internet, except for work purposes, and having any unsupervised contact with females under the age of 18.
