Confiscation order for £5,500 for convicted man Jabran Akram after under-age sex

A FARTOWN man jailed for sex and other offences has now had more than £5,500 confiscated.

Jabran Akram, who is serving a 39-month prison sentence for having under-age sex with a teenager, has been ordered by a judge to pay a confiscation order totalling more than £5,500.

Akram, 27, of Hammerton Road, was jailed last November after he admitted an allegation of sexual activity with a child.

But he was also given concurrent prison terms in relation to his handling of a stolen £20,000 Audi A3 and parts from a Ford Fiesta.

Akram was brought back to Bradford Crown Court yesterday for a hearing under the Proceeds of

Crime Act and Recorder Anthony Hawks ordered him to pay up £5,690 or face an extra three months in jail.

The court heard that Akram had benefited from criminal conduct to the tune of £23,850 in respect of the vehicle-related offences and he had available assets of £5,690.

At his sentence hearing last year the court heard how Akram gave the youngster some alcohol and told her she was beautiful and sexy before having intercourse with her.

Although the incident happened in February last year Akram was not traced by police until January 2010.

Akram was initially charged with rape, but his guilty plea to an allegation of sexual activity with a child was accepted on the day of his trial in September.
