Paedophile’s sentence upped after admitting more abuse

A PAEDOPHILE who is currently serving an 18-year prison sentence for sexually assaulting a young boy and girl will serve an extra two years after he admitted abusing another child.

William Montgomery, aged 44, of Rillwood Court, Lumbertubs, Northampton, was found guilty of raping a young girl following a trial at Northampton Crown Court in February.

Montgomery had already pleaded guilty to 13 indecent assaults against a boy in the 1980s which only ended when he was jailed for burglary in 1985.

Following the publicity of Montgomery’s conviction, another victim came forward who said she had also been abused by Montgomery in the 1980s when she was aged between six and nine.

Montgomery was charged with 12 counts of sexual indecency with a child.

Judge Michael Fowler sentenced Montgomery to two years in prison, to be served consecutive to his 18-year sentence.

Paedophile handed 18 year jail term for horrific rape of six-year-old boy

A PAEDOPHILE who preyed on both male and female children has been sentenced to 18 years’ imprisonment for the rape of a child.

William Montgomery, aged 43, repeatedly raped a young child who kept quiet for almost 20 years until a chance meeting last year.

He admitted committing repeated sexual offences against a boy as young as six, who cannot be named, prior to his trial last month when he was convicted of raping a girl of similar age. A jury unanimously convicted him of the offences committed during the 1990s.

Montgomery had already pleaded guilty to 13 indecent assaults against a boy in the 1980s which only ended when he was jailed for burglary in 1985.

But he denied the rapes and was convicted after a three-day trial.

Piers Reed, prosecuting, said the woman, now aged in her 20s, was occasionally baby sat by Montgomery when he would take the opportunity to abuse her.

She had kept quiet about the abuse for almost 20 years until their paths crossed last year and she went to the police.

Judge Ian Alexander QC said: “You have been found guilty by the jury of rape of a girl who was aged somewhere between five and seven years – it is not certain. It went over a period of time, several months. This is the sort of sexual activity that can only bring horror to any civilised human being.

“There is no mitigation here. You have not pleaded guilty and have required this lady to give evidence as to what happened and with all the distress and concern that can bring. In my judgement, the appropriate sentence is one of 18 years.”

Montgomery, of Rillwood Court, Lumbertubs was given an indefinite sex offences’ prevention order and will be on the offenders’ register for the rest of his life.

Matthew Kirk, mitigating, said Montgomery still denies raping the young girl despite the jury’s verdict. He said: “In his later life, drink made working less possible for him and it has certainly scarred his later years.”
