Pervert youth worker jailed for 14 years after sexually abusing three children in Birkenhead

A PERVERTED youth worker who sexually abused three children was jailed for 14 years and eight months.

Kevin Gorman told his victims, the youngest of whom was just eight when the nightmare that still affects them today began, to keep the sick sessions secret or he would go to prison.

The 41-year-old abused the youngsters, two girls and a boy, at two properties in Birkenhead between 2008 and last summer.

The depravity only came to light when the oldest victim, then 14, told her boyfriend, who in turn informed the girl’s mother.

Teresa Loftus, prosecuting, told Liverpool Crown Court how Gorman called one of the victims his “special little girl” and suggested the pair watch pornography together.

Miss Loftus said he would touch the children, and would force them to touch him inappropriately.

One victim complained of being “trapped and pinned down on a chair or the floor” while the abuse took place, said Miss Loftus.

When the abuse came to light, Gorman made an attempt at suicide but was found and treated in hospital.

After that, he went to convalesce at his mother’s house, on Prince’s Avenue, Margate, Kent – the address he gave to the court as he pleaded guilty to his crimes.

In victim impact statements given to the court, the psychological trauma scarring the lives of the victims was laid bare, with all three suffering and one requiring treatment under a psychiatrist.

The former young person’s alcohol intervention worker was sentenced for 32 sexual offences against a child.

Judge John Roberts also made Gorman sign the sex offenders register for life, banned him from ever working with children again, and made him the subject of a sexual offences prevention order.
