Sheppey pervert jailed for possessing indecent images

A vile pervert has been jailed after pleading guilty to possessing thousands of indecent images of children and extreme pornography.

Ian Richard Turner, 49, of Minster Road, Minster on Sea, pleaded guilty at Maidstone Crown Court on January 25 to eight counts of possessing indecent images of children.

Following an investigation by the Kent Police child exploitation investigation team, Turner’s home was searched and computer equipment was seized.

Ofiicers found a store of 1,400 indecent images of children and 590 moving images. Analysis also uncovered 5,532 images of extreme pornography and six movies depicting extreme pornography.

Appearing before Maidstone Crown Court for sentencing, Turner was given a 13-month custodial sentence, half of which will be served on licence. Turner was also given a 10-year sexual offences prevention order where his name will appear on the sex offenders’ register for 10 years, and he has been banned indefinitely from working with children.

Detective Constable Mikaela Stevens from the child exploitation investigation team said: “Turner had a considerable amount of indecent images of children stored on his computer, as well as extreme pornography depicting the most depraved acts imaginable.

“Every indecent image of children contains a victim of crime, and we will continue to actively pursue people who are connected to indecent images offences, whether that be the production, distribution or possession of such images.”
