A 30-year-old Frome man has been jailed for 12 years for sexual offences against young girls.

Jason Simon Horler, of no fixed address, was sentenced at Taunton Crown Court on Tuesday and pleaded guilty to offering class A drugs, namely cocaine, six counts of sexual activity with a female under 16 and four further allegations remain on file.

His mobile phone was also forfeited.

After the case, Detective Inspector Lindsay Shearlock said in a statement to the Somerset Standard: “Jason Horler is a predator who preyed on teenage girls in the Mendip area.

“He groomed two teenage girls through Facebook, through texting them and then convincing them to meet.

“These girls were both under 16 and had their feelings manipulated.

“Quite simply, they were not old enough to take the big decisions he asked of them.

“It is telling that once they got away from his influence they saw him for the predator that he is.

“I hope this case reassures victims that we will take their allegations seriously and will do our best to bring sexual offenders to justice.”

Horler was also placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely, disqualified from working with children for life and a sexual offences prevention order was put in place.
