Sex offender jailed after molesting teenage girl

SEX offender Joshua Dobson has been locked up after taking advantage of a teenage girl and intimately touching her.

Dobson, 19, of Corinthian Avenue, Grimsby, admitted sexual activity with a teenage girl and sexually assaulting her on June 18.

Patricia Doherty, prosecuting, told Grimsby Crown Court that Dobson sent inappropriate text messages to the girl.

He later visited her and molested her while she was in bed.

The teenager asked him to stop but he continued his behaviour and committed a sex act in front of her, the court hearing was told.

Craig Lowe, mitigating, said Dobson made admissions and was remorseful.

He had made a heartfelt apology to the girl and her family.

Judge David Tremberg told Dobson his behaviour was likely to have caused the girl “serious emotional harm”.

He added: “You clearly knew what you were doing was very wrong.”

Dobson was locked up for 18 months, given a ten-year sexual offences prevention order, was banned from working with children from life.

He was also ordered to register as a sex offender for ten years.
