A SOCIAL care officer who worked with children and wanted to be a social worker has been jailed for downloading indecent images of children.
Stewart Rodger, 46, was snared by police when they were given information he had been downloading and sharing images.
A search warrant was granted and his seized computer equipment was found to contain pictures and videos showing indecent images of children.
A number of items, including 18 computers and laptops, were seized and examined.
The most recent image was downloaded only days before officers swooped at his home.
Rodger, a social care officer for 20 years, worked for the Families for Children department of Glasgow City Council based at Morrison Street. He supported children being put into foster care or adoption.
Police found a total of seven pictures and 57 videos on his computer equipment.
At Glasgow Sheriff Court, Rodger – studying at the Open University to become a social worker – pled guilty to downloading the material.
He was jailed for five months by sheriff Sam Cathcart.
