A nurse who was jailed for sexually assaulting a young child was kicked out of the profession.

Mircea-Paul Anghelina is still serving an 18 month sentence following his conviction at Lewes Crown Court last year.

The Romanian national was working as a nurse in East Sussex at the time of the incident although it took place ‘outside of the nursing practice’. A panel of the Nursing and Midwifery Council decided to strike him off.

Sussex nurse convicted of sexual assault on child

A nurse could be struck off after being convicted of a sexual assault on a boy.

Mircea-Paul Anghelina, who worked in East Sussex, faces a Nursing and Midwifery Council hearing next month .

The charges against him are as follows: “On April 19, 2012, [you] were convicted at Lewes Crown Court for two counts of sexual assault of a male child under the age of 13.”

He was sentenced to 18 months’ imprisonment, disqualified from working with children and ordered to sign on the Sex Offenders’ Register for ten years.

He is accused of misconduct in relation to this.
