Paedophile jailed for 14 years

A MAN who repeatedly sexually attacked two young girls was yesterday jailed for 14 years.

Norman Medlicott, 60, was convicted by a jury of raping and attempting to rape one girl on five occasions when she was aged between 13 and16.

He was also found guilty of indecently assaulting another girl six times when she was between the ages of seven and 16 years oldand raping her twice.

Liverpool Crown Court Judge David Lynch called Medlicott a “violent bully” and “a danger to children”.

During his trial, the jury of seven men and five women heard that Medlicott sexually abused his victims between 1979 and 1994.

The jury heard that Medlicott’s victims came forward when it became apparent that he had exposed himself to a four-year-oldgirl on May 1 last year.

Medlicott, of Parr, St Helens, was then accused of 14 charges of rape, seven of indecent assault and one of indecency with a child.

He was unanimously convicted of six counts of rape,one of attempted rape, six charges of indecent assault and one of indecency witha child.

Medlicott, who had pleaded not guilty to all the charges, was acquitted of the remaining eight counts.
