Man jailed for filming attempted baby rape

A north Wales man has been jailed for life for filming the attempted rape of a baby girl.

Russell John Contento, from Mold, had filmed himself carrying out the crime in a bid to re-enact images he had seen on the internet.

The 31-year-old plumber also admitted taking indecent “pseudo images” of children and two charges of possessing them.

Judge Stephen Clarke, who was shown the downloaded images of the young girls, described them as “dirty, filthy and terrible”.

He added the availability of such material on the internet should be looked into seriously.

The charges cover the film Contento made and the downloading of indecent images of children from the internet.

The prosecution claimed that 1,300 images of child pornography had been discovered on his computer.

He also admitted stealing children’s knickers from homes he had visited during his job as a plumber between January and December last year.

Contento’s defence barrister told Chester Crown Court that his client was remorseful and anxious to accept any treatment offered.

He said he needed help to rid himself of an addiction which had dramatically overcome his life and led to him needing a daily fix of computer pornography.
