Pensioner jailed for raping girl 100 times

A RETIRED lorry driver who raped a girl more than 100 times in nine years has been jailed for 15 years.

After a Liverpool crown court jury found 72- year old James Taylor guilty of eight charges of rape, they learned he had already admitted 35 sex attacks on young boys.

During Taylor’s trial, the court heard that his female victim, who is now 40, was raped by him between 1972 and 1980, when she was between the ages of eight and 17.

Taylor, formerly of Warbreck Avenue, Aintree, had pleaded not guilty to 10 charges of rape.

He was convicted of eight charges and cleared of two on the judge’s directions.

After the jury returned its guilty verdicts,Deborah Gould, prosecuting, said Taylor,had pleaded guilty to 27 charges of rape and indecent assault of a boy when the victim was between the ages of eight and 18.

Taylor was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for life and was disqualified from ever working with children.
