Sex abuse man jailed

A MAN who subjected a young girl to a decade of sexual abuse has been jailed for 12 years.

Jobless security worker Kevin Harper, from Tuebrook, was branded “evil” by the judge who sentenced him.

The 59-year-old had pleaded not guilty to four counts of indecent assault and 10 of rape, but last month a jury at Liverpool crown court convicted him of all 14 charges.

Harper, of Grenfell Road, began sexually assaulting the girl when she was only six.

The abuse culminated in a sickening”campaign of rape” which continued until his victim was 15, said Judge Paul Batty QC.

Passing sentence at Carlisle crown court, Judge Batty outlined how Harper’s abuse of the girl quickly escalated into regular rape attacks.

The judge said the only mitigation in the case was Harper’s previous good character.

He ordered Harper should go on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely and also imposed an order preventing him from having unsupervised access to any child aged under 16 because of the risk he poses
