A paedophile has been jailed for molesting a six-year-old girl in her home.

Nichola Mezzadri, of Forest Road in Walthamstow, was sentenced to two-and-a-half years at Woolwich Crown Court yesterday after being found guilty on January 8.

Mezzadri was invited to a family party in Bromley, south-east London, by a friend on August 19 2012.

The girl was sleeping in her mother’s bedroom when Mezzadri struck.

The assault only ended when the girl’s father came into the room.

Police were called at about 3am to arrest the Italian, originally from Milan.

Detective Chief Inspector Pete Thomas, from Sapphire, said: “The victim has shown immense courage throughout this trial, which was no doubt very harrowing and distressing for both her and her family.

“I would like to commend the young victim in this case and her parents, without whom the conviction could not have been achieved.

“My team worked tirelessly on this case. Their professionalism and tenacity has resulted in a dangerous individual being sent to prison.

“I hope this conviction will provide reassurance to all our communities that we will relentlessly pursue those who commit these dreadful crimes against children.”
