Sex attacker carried out 17-year reign of abuse

A man is behind bars after being convicted of sex attacks on four young girls.

John Hume preyed on his young victims during a reign of abuse spanning 17 years.

The 50-year-old attacked the girls – who were aged between eight and 14 when they were first targeted – at a property in Glasgow’s west end. The allegations ranged from April 1992 until August 2009.

The High Court in Glasgow heard Hume recorded one of them in a bathroom after she had undressed.

Hume was found guilty at of five charges of using lewd and libidinous practices.

Judge Lord Doherty remanded Hume, of Ashby Crescent, Knightswood, in custody and deferred sentencing until August.

He was also placed on the sex offenders register.

A female relative in the courtroom yelled “liars, you are really good liars” at the victims as Hume was lead handcuffed to the cells.
