Man admits 16 child abuse images charges

A 63-year-old man has admitted having 247 indecent photographs of children.

Gregory Boyes, of Station Road, Nawton, was arrested as part of the nation-wide Operation Ore investigation into child pornography.

He appeared at Scarborough Magistrates’ Court and admitted 16 separate charges relating to child pornography.

In court Boyes admitted to making indecent images of children on his computer from January 1 1999.

Dawn Birkett, prosecuting, said Boyes had his computer seized by police and following a thorough examination of the hard drive, officers discovered 247 indecent images of children.

Their investigations also found that Boyes had, on a couple of occasions, paid to have images of children sent to him and had surfed websites that offered access to indecent images of children.

Mrs Birkett said of the images relating to the charges brought against Boyes the levels went from one to five in terms of seriousness.

Magistrates ordered that the case be adjourned until March 24 for pre-sentence reports

Boyes was also placed on the sex offenders’ register with his registered sex offender status immediate from Monday’s hearing.
