Paedophile with fetish for young boys jailed for abuse of schoolboy

A sadistic paedophile who photographed depraved sex sessions with a 15-year-old boy and distributed them among like-minded perverts has been jailed for six years and four months.

David Smith, 30, (pictured above) fantasised about having sex with boys as young as nine and used handcuffs and gags to act out his warped desires, Bradford Crown Court heard.

He had group sex sessions with his victim, who he met through a dating website, and urged him to pretend he was an 11-year-old boy when he abused him when he was wearing his school uniform.

They indulged in sado-masochism during a four month relationship that ended when the boy contracted two sexually transmitted diseases.

Smith, of Stott Terrace, Eccleshill, Bradford, also photographed unsuspecting young boys using public toilets.

He stood impassively in the dock yesterday, hands clasped in front of him, as Judge John Potter branded him “a committed paedophile”.

“On any view of this criminality, there is clearly an element of corruption of your child victim for your own perverted sexual gratification,” the judge said.

Matthew Lomas, 29, of Burnstall Crescent, Menston, was imprisoned for eight months for encouraging Smith to send him photos of the boy being abused.

He admitted six offences of making an indecent photo of a child.

Lomas, in a smart suit and tie, exchanpged text messages with Smith, saying he wanted to meet the teenager and would like to have sex with boys as young as 11, the court was told.

David Naylor, 26, of Finchvale View, Houghton le Spring, Tyne and Wear, pleaded guilty to six offences of making an indecent photo of a child. They were sent to him by Smith and included images of the 15-year-old boy.

Naylor, who did not ask Smith to send him the photos, was sentenced to a 12 month community order, with supervision.

Prosecutor Giles Bridge said Smith’s phone was seized by the police in April last year. It contained two movie clips of boys aged about eight using the toilets at Tropical World in Roundhay Park, Leeds.

The abuse of the teenage boy, from the Bradford area, came to light after Smith and Lomas were arrested in January this year.

Mr Bridge said Smith and the boy made contact through a website for gay men.

The teenager initially told Smith he was 18 but, after three weeks, revealed he was 15 when Smith told him he had a fetish for school uniforms and had had sex with underage boys.

The boy knew pictures were being taken of them having sex and encouraged Smith to arrange group sex sessions.

Smith pleaded guilty to four offences of sexual activity with a child, one of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, six of making, taking and distributing indecent photos of children and two of voyeurism.

His barrister, Stephen Couch, mitigating, said he expected an extensive jail sentence. He now had insight into his offending and was remorseful.

There was no evidence that Smith infected his victim with disease.

Julian White, for Lomas, said his family were ashamed of him and he had lost his job.

“He is a man who realises he has done wrong and will not do it again,” Mr White said.
