Man jailed for sex attack on boy in King’s Lynn sports centre

A former Gaywood man has been jailed for a year after being convicted of sexually assaulting a teenage boy at a Lynn sports centre.

Richard Briggs, 59, was sentenced to 12 months in prison at Norwich Crown Court on Monday, having previously been found guilty of the single charge following a trial in April.

The court was told that Briggs, who is formerly of Jermyn Road, Gaywood and now of Stainforth Road, Thetford, had approached a 15-year-old boy in a changing room at the Lynnsport leisure centre in Greenpark Avenue on June 20 last year.

He then assaulted the victim while he was changing.

As well as the jail term, Judge Stephen Holt barred Briggs from working with children and made him the subject of a five-year sexual offences prevention order.

He was also ordered to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for a period of 10 years.
