Man who targeted underage Barking girl caged

A MAN who videoed himself having sex with a Barking school girl has been jailed 18 months.

Jay Mitchell-Moores, 18, of Ilford, pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual activity with a child at Snaresbrook Crown Court on 3 August. On Friday, 27 September he was sentenced to nine months for each offence, to run concurrently.

On 3 May, the victim’s father came home to find Mitchell-Moores in bed with his 13-year-old daughter. He called the police who questioned the pair about what had happened, with both protesting that nothing untoward had taken place. Mitchell-Moores was allowed to leave the house.

The father remained suspicious and contacted police the next day when he found explicit messages from Mitchell-Moores on the victim’s social network account.

Officers seized his mobile phone, on which they found images and videos of the offender engaging in sexual activity with the girl. He was arrested and charged on 5 May.

T/DC Monir Nainia of Sapphire, part of the Sexual Offences, Exploitation and Child Abuse Command, led the investigation. He said: “Jay Mitchell-Moores is a sexual predator who took advantage of a child and exploited her for his gratification.

“I would like to praise the victim and her family for their courage in supporting this investigation and Mitchell-Moores guilty plea indicates the wealth of evidence against him.

“I hope this conviction sends a clear message to those who prey on young and vulnerable people – you will be arrested and put before the courts to face justice.”
