Update: Dougherty has now been released
Man jailed for four-and-a-half years after admitting 18 sexual offences, including indecently assaulting a teenage boy
A ‘RECLUSE’ who indecently assaulted an under-age boy and coerced him into posing for indecent photographs was sent to jail for four years by the Royal Court
Sean Dougherty, 46, also faced 17 offences relating to almost 30,000 indecent images and videos of children.
He admitted committing the offences between August 2005 and December 2006.
Crown Advocate Fiona Russell told the court how the charges related to a single indecent assault on a boy who was under the age of 16 at the time.
The defendant also took 306 indecent photographs of the same boy, which were the subject of the five charges.
Dougherty admitted coercing the boy into posing for the photographs and said he had probably paid him £20 to do so, though the boy, who is now an adult, recalls it was between £30 and £50.
The defendant was initially charged in February 2012.
In September that year, a search warrant was executed at his home.
A total of 29,053 indecent images of children were found to have been downloaded from the internet and stored on computer equipment.
