Surrey paedophile jailed for Texas child sex attacks

A Surrey piano tuner who travelled to Dallas, Texas, to abuse three children aged between two and nine has been jailed for seven years.

Simon Gray, 38, of Newdigate, was sentenced at Guildford Crown Court after carrying out a string of attacks.

Gray met the mother of the two girls, aged five and seven, and the boy, nine, on the internet.

He admitted indecently assaulting the boy, a count of indecent assault and two of attempted indecent assault.

The court heard he was unable to carry out some of his attacks because his victims’ screams were so loud.

He also admitted stealing a photograph which had been used for sexual purposes.

It also heard Gray had discussed sexual fantasies with the mother of the three children on the internet that included someone abusing her children.

Gray was arrested and charged in April with offences after a tip-off from FBI officers in the United States.

When police searched his computer they found 45,000 images, many of which featured children. Some of them had been distributed to other paedophiles.

Sentencing Gray, Judge John Crocker said: “This case in my view shows just how dangerous it is when fantasies on the internet become reality.

“In this case the people who suffered are children,” the judge said.

The court also heard the children’s mother had been sentenced to 130 months in jail for charges which included inciting Gray to travel for the purpose of having sex with a minor.
