Pervert who sexually assaulted woman & 12-year-old girl on Docklands Light Railway jailed

A pervert who sexually assaulted a woman and a young girl on the Docklands Light Railway has been jailed.

Peter Mussett, of no fixed address, pounced on the two victims, aged 38-years-old and 12-years-old, within a matter of hours of each other on September 18 last year.

Thames Magistrates’ Court heard the 32-year-old assaulted the woman, from Lewisham, as she walked up the stairs at Shadwell DLR station.

Later on that day Mussett indecently touched a 12-year-old girl on two occasions as she was travelling home by herself on a DLR train between Limehouse and Westferry.

Police believe he was only using public transport that day to target and assault women for sexual gratification.

Musset was jailed for 44 weeks and has also been banned from using the London Underground and DLR while under the influence of drink or drugs for seven years.

He must register his oyster card at a police station and was also ordered to pay compensation to both victims.

Detective Inspector John Justice said: “Mussett’s attack on a woman, as she walked up stairs at Shadwell DLR, only stopped when she challenged his behaviour.

“Mussett’s second victim, who was 12-years-old at the time, was travelling home on her own when she was assaulted. Mussett indecently touched her on two separate occasions as she stood in the carriage.

“This was understandably an incredibly frightening experience for the young girl.”
