Appeal judge tells paedophile pensioner: ‘You’re not too old for jail’

An OAP who said his sentence for child sex abuse should be cut because of his ‘old age’ has had his case rejected.

Brian Colin Lewington, 68, of Blaydon Avenue, Cleveleys, escaped justice for decades after committing crimes against two girls in the 1960s.

He was eventually jailed for three years in January, after admitting a count of indecency with a child and six indecent assaults at Aylesbury Crown Court.

He took his case to the Court of Appeal, where his lawyers argued that, because he is now ‘somewhat elderly’, his sentence should be reduced. But Lady Justice Macur said: “He is not an old man. Last week, this court dealt with two 90-year-olds.”

The court heard Lewington was only brought to justice after his victims came forward last year.

One talked of attacks which took place before she had even reached her teens.

Another also spoke up, complaining of being molested by Lewington when she was only nine.

Lewington argued that, at 68, he is no risk to children.
