Child abuser jailed for three years

A construction worker who sexually abuse two young children has been jailed for three years by the Royal Court.

Jeremy Wayland Aubert committed the offences at two addresses on the island.

He initially denied the offences but later admitted indecently assaulting a girl and committing the same offence against a boy.

He also admitted procuring an act of gross indecency by getting the girl to touch him sexually.

Crown Advocate Stephen Baker said that the ‘extremely serious sexual offences’ amounted very serious misconduct

He said one of the victims had not told anyone until recently and found it extremely difficult to speak out.

The offences came to light when one of the victims – now an adult – gave a statement to police

The two victims both described how the abuse has had a damaging effect on their lives.

As well as being jailed Aubert was also placed on the sex offenders register for at least five years
