Offender jailed for sex abuse

A MAN has been locked up for 11 years after being found guilty of sexually abusing young girls.

Robert Greenway, of Clifton Terrace, Holyhead, had denied 20 charges against girls as young as three years old covering a 10 year period from 2002 until 2012 But a jury at Caernarfon Crown Court found the 61-year-old guilty after a trial earlier this week.

Sentence had been adjourned until yesterday.

Jailing Greenway for a total of 11 years Judge Merfyn Hughes QC said there were a number of aggravating features in the case.

He said: “You systematically abused each one when they were very young.

“You have destroyed their lives.”

The judge ordered Greenway must sign the sex offenders register for an indefinate period.

Greenway showed no emotion as he was led from the dock to begin his sentence.
