Man convicted for sexually assaulting six-year-old girl
A Brighton man has been found guilty of sexually assaulting a six-year-old girl.
Samuel James Day, 32, of no fixed address, but from Brighton was convicted following a seven-day trial at Hove Crown Court, which ended on Tuesday (28 July).
He has been remanded in custody to await sentencing on Friday 28 August.
Day had denied two counts of sexually assaulting his young victim by touching and a breach of his sexual offences prevention order, issued to him in June last year.
After hearing evidence, a jury convicted him of all the offences.
He had previously admitted a further breach of the prevention order and having indecent images of children.
Detective Constable Tom Perry, of the Brighton safeguarding investigations unit, said: “Day preyed on a mother and attempted to strike up a relationship with her to get to her young vulnerable daughter.
“We will always take any allegation extremely seriously and seek to prosecute offenders for such dreadful crimes.”
