A MAN who flashed children in two separate incidents on the same day despite already being on the sex offenders register has been spared jail.

Rodney Knight, aged 60, of Queen Street in Weymouth, pleaded guilty to the two incidents which took place in September last year.

Police refused a request for a custody image of Knight.

The charges were that he intentionally exposed his genitals intending that someone would see them and be caused alarm or distress.

The court heard that the first incident took place when a woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was walking along the street with her two children aged three and one.

The court heard how she saw her son gazing off to the side and saw that he was looking at the defendant who was wearing nothing but a white shirt stood in a doorway.

She then shouted to the defendant that she was calling the police.

Later that day an 11-year-old boy was playing with four friends.

When he looked up, he saw Knight stood in the doorway exposing himself.

The boy told Knight to go inside and put some pants on but when he came back out he was still exposing himself.

At this point the boy asked Knight if he was okay and Knight told him ‘he was not well.’ The boy alerted a nearby neighbour who called the police who then arrested Knight, the court heard.

Knight has been on the Sex Offenders Register since 2011 in relation to previous offences, the court heard.

Knight has been ordered to attend the Thames Valley Sex Offenders Programme as well as serving a community order for the next three years.

A Supervision Order was also issued for Knight.

He was ordered to pay compensation and court fees totalling £495.
