Pervert jailed for grooming schoolgirl on social network site

A 54-year-old pervert has been jailed for 14-months at Chelmsford Crown Court for a string of sexual offences relating to the grooming of a 14-year-old schoolgirl

Christopher Mills pleaded guilty to five counts of inciting a child under 16 years old to be involved in pornography and inciting a child under the age of 16 years to engage in sexual activity

Supermarket lorry driver Christopher Mills of Clacton found the victims profile on social networking site ‘Tango’, and made contact with her, even though her profile picture clearly showed her age and a picture of her in a school uniform.

Over the following nine days, he sent her indecent images and videos of himself masterbating and continued to encourage her to do the same

Despite this young girl making her age clear to Mills he sent her graphic images and engaged her in conversations using inappropriate sexual language

The father of the child became concerned about his daughters sudden suspicious behaviour and checked the phone for himself. He found the indecent images, videos and sexual remarks sent by Mills.

The father made the decision to meet Mills at a Chelmsford car park by pretending to be his daughter. However, on the way to the meet, the father felt his anger was too much and rang the police instead. The police told him that it could take up to three weeks to arrest Mills, but they soon changed their minds when the father stated he was just minutes away from meeting the offender.

The police arrived at the car park and arrested Mills.

Mills pleaded guilty and was sentenced to a total of 14 months imprisonment

He was given a sexual harm prevention order including a ban for unsupervised contact with female children aged under 16 years old and ordered to sign the sex offenders register for 10 years.
