Aberdeen man Derek Piper jailed over indecent images of children

A man who downloaded explicit images involving children, adults and animals has been jailed for 15 months.

Derek Piper, 39, admitted taking or permitting thousands of indecent photographs of children to be taken.

More than 6,000 indecent images of children were found after his flat in Aberdeen was raided and his computer items seized.

He also admitted being in possession of extreme pornographic images of adults and animals at Aberdeen Sheriff Court.

Police also discovered 95 hours of video footage of sexual activity with animals during their investigation. They included horses and a fish.

Defence lawyer Laura Gracie said her client was full of remorse and realised the gravity of the offence, especially since the birth of his own daughter 10 months ago.

Ms Gracie said: “He was in a very high-paid job and as a direct result of his behaviour he lost it.

“Having been made redundant he’s not managed to find further employment.”

Aberdeen man had child abuse pictures and videos of adults having sex with fish

An Aberdeen man who was caught with 6,449 indecent images of children has been put on the sex offenders register.

Derek Piper, 39, was charged after police searched his flat at Prospect Terrace flat in Aberdeen.

Piper admitted taking or permitting indecent photographs of children to be taken over a period of months in 2014.

Piper also had 308 photos and 236 pornographic videos in his possession of adults involved in sex acts with animals which Aberdeen Sheriff Court heard related to dogs, horses and a fish.

Sentence was deferred for background reports until later this year.

As he was leaving the dock yesterday, a member of the public sitting in court made a loud animal noise and was escorted out of the court room by a police officer.

Sheriff Annella Cowan told the police constable to take the man out and consider whether he needed to be charged with breach of the peace.
